How have AAMCO centers performed financially?
One of the biggest positives in partnering with a nationally known brand with a 50-year history of expertise and customer trust, is that the groundwork has been laid. Our AAMCO franchise owners are secure in the knowledge that as we enter the Total Car Care market, our brand is the nation’s top-rated transmission repair franchise. Our owners have a built-in revenue stream, which is the direct result of the decades we’ve spent establishing ourselves as the preeminent brand for transmission repair.
When you couple the main revenue stream of transmission repair with the second revenue stream derived from the Total Car Care market, our AAMCO owners can do very well. Of course, how well our AAMCO owners do is determined by how well they take advantage of our training platforms, their individual business acumen, and the local economy.
What makes AAMCO different than other auto repair businesses?
AAMCO is the world’s largest and top-rated transmission repair franchise and offers Total Car Care at hundreds of auto repair franchises throughout North America. It has been an iconic brand for more than 50 years and is attracting new franchisees by simplifying the process of owning, staffing, and running an auto repair franchise. No other auto repair business can claim to be the leading experts in transmission repair, which affords our AAMCO owners a built-in revenue stream. By entering the Total Car Care market, we are providing our owners with a second revenue stream by leveraging our expertise in transmission repair into all other vehicle maintenance.

What is Global Powertrain Systems, and how does it help AAMCO franchisees?
Global Powertrain Systems (GPS) is a sister brand of AAMCO, both of which are owned by American Driveline Systems, Inc. Brett Ponton serves as CEO of each of the businesses. AAMCO recently partnered with Global Powertrain Systems to develop a state-of-the-art, 200,000-square-foot remanufacturing facility that allows our franchisees to have immediate access to a vertically integrated supply chain with preferred pricing on our core transmission category. Our franchisees no longer have to employ expert builders to fix transmissions because they have the option to purchase high quality, remanufactured transmissions from GPS with a better warranty and faster turnaround times for the consumer. This helps our franchisees keep their costs low and focus on growing their business in the Total Car Care market.
How big is the auto repair industry?
According to IBISWorld’s Auto Mechanics in the US market research report, the auto repair industry generates sales of $63 billion a year. The fact that there isn’t a single brand dominating more than 10% of the market share means AAMCO franchise owners have plenty of opportunity to grow their business. While we are the dominant brand in transmission repair, there is no dominant brand in general automotive repair.
